Moving on up...?

So...forgot this in my last post...oh well...2 to read now.

No pictures so bare with me...

I had applied for a in-house job a few months back and didn't get it. But I expressed to the owner/my boss that I didn't want to stay as the front desk receptionist forever...I wanted advancement. There are days that were forever and I disliked it more and more...apparently I showed my frustration in a good way... :)

My boss/owner (Dawn) pulled me aside today while everyone was at lunch to inform me of the following:

My immediate boss (Office Manager/IT guy/Owner's Assistant) (Michael) is taking classes and next semester will only be IN office Tues/Thurs. So that will take away time from helping the Dawn with things. Also, the payroll girl (Jen) is pregnant and will be on maternity leave in the Spring. I've been waiting (and already HAVE the job) for the BHRS (wraparound part of company) billing person (Melissa) to go back to school to be a P.A. She didn't get into the school she wanted so now she's not leaving until next fall (versus this spring). So that was a little discouragement there. So...as Dawn told me in my interview for the previous position, she doesn't want to lose me and has "things planned for me"...and I've been patiently waiting (as much as I can most days).

So - today she approached me with all of the above and told me that soon she will have the billing coordinator show me some thigns about the billing so I can help with that and then the first of the year I will no longer be at the front desk, I will be her (Dawn) assistant, transcriptionist, and learning more and more billing. She reiterated that there will be confidential stuff I will know that most others will not within the company and I assured her I can be trusted with that and that is NOT a problem for me! Then, next fall, when Melissa leaves for school, I will be the fulltime BHRS Billing Coordinator. It may be a long road some days...but it's something to look forward too. It's also rewarding knowing that they have listened to my requests and taken them into consideration...whereas I never had that before. I enjoy where I am overall and the people I work with...you always have those few difficult ones but in the big picture - it's a nice place to work at! Very accomodating and caring as well!

So...if you could all say a prayer here and there that I will continue to have the patience I need some days to get through until that day comes. I'm honestly not sure what all to expect being Dawn's assistant...some things "worry" me...and other things I'm sure will be so easy.

Thanks again...and hopefully ya'll could follow that...I tried.

In a nutshell: The first of the year I'll be out of the front office (yea!) and then next fall be the BHRS Billing Coordinator (if all goes as planned). (How's that?)

Congrats!!! That is good news, even though it isn't directly what you wanted, it is a good look forward. :) I hope it all goes as smoothly for you as it possibly can!!
